Residential Solar Panel Cleaning for Antelope Valley Homeowners

You bought your solar system to lower a power bill. Every month the panels sit dirty, some of that money goes back to the utility. Why Home Solar Panels Stop Producing What They Should

Out here the glass takes a beating: high desert dust, spring pollen, agricultural drift, wildfire ash, and bird droppings. All of it blocks light before it reaches the cell, and blocked light is electricity your system already made and cannot deliver.

Two things most homeowners are never told:

  • The bottom edge matters most. Water running down the glass carries dirt to the lower frame lip, where it dams up into a hard band. Because the cells in a panel are wired in series, that band can choke the output of the whole panel far out of proportion to how much glass it covers. A panel that looks “mostly clean” can still be losing real production.
  • Light rain makes it worse, not better. A shower that only dampens the dust dissolves the minerals in it; the sun then dries it and cements the layer to the glass. Heavy rain rinses. Light rain glues.

Please Do Not Do This Yourself

Two reasons, and the second one is the important one.

  • Hose water spots the glass. Tap water carries dissolved minerals. On hot glass it evaporates in seconds and leaves those minerals behind as spots, which build into scale that blocks light the same way dirt does and can eventually etch the surface permanently. We use purified water, which dries with nothing left behind — no squeegee, no towel, no spots.
  • Falls from residential roofs are the injury most likely to be catastrophic in this trade. Wet glass on a wet roof is about as slick as it gets. We clean the large majority of homes from the ground with a water-fed pole, and when a roof has to be walked, our people are trained and tied off properly.

The same goes for pressure washing. A pressure washer runs 1,500 to 4,000 PSI. It strips the anti-reflective coating off the glass, blows out the silicone seal around the frame, and cracks the cells behind it. Manufacturers call that improper maintenance, and it is how a warranty claim gets denied.

  • Extra attention to the caked band along the bottom edge of each panel

  • Before-and-after photographs
  • A written condition report — cracked glass, discoloration, corroded hardware, chewed wiring, bird nesting, or a tree starting to shade the array. We do not repair anything, but you find out about it from us instead of from a production drop six months later
  • If you have a monitoring app, we will look at your production for the two weeks before and after, so you can see the difference instead of taking our word for it

How Often?

For most homes in the Antelope Valley, twice a year is right: once after pollen season and once at the end of the dry season before the rains come. Homes near open desert, unpaved roads, agriculture, or with heavy bird traffic do better on a quarterly schedule. If once a year is enough for your house, we will tell you that — and we would rather say so than sell you something that does not pay.

Customers on an annual plan pay less per cleaning than one-off visits, and the array never gets back to the hard, cemented condition that makes the first cleaning take twice as long.

Neighbors on the Same Street

If two or three homes on your street book the same morning, we can do them together and everyone pays less. If you are on an HOA board or in a community where most of the homes have panels, call us — we will set up community pricing and a scheduled visit day.

Pricing

$10 per panel for a single-story home with the array reachable from the ground, on a regular maintenance cleaning. $175 minimum per visit.

  • Two story or steep pitch: +$100
  • Roof access required: +$150
  • Tile roof: +$50
  • Heavy bird droppings: +$75
  • First cleaning on an array that has never been done: add 50%
